SENEPOL bulls topped $15,000 while their purebred female counterparts hit a $7500 high while composite bulls sold to $12,000 at Monday’s annual 5 Star Senepol Sale, Gracemere. Vendors, the Maynard family, 5 Star Stud, Jambin and co vendor, the McCauley family, Val Stud, Biloela saw all bar three cattle clear at auction to a two state and Northern Territory buying panel producing a purebred male average of $5500 and a composite medium of $5364.
Market topper at $15,000 was the 16-month-old 5 Star 8-12 a 666kg CN 5480 Hercules grandson from a Wizard dam selling to Andrew Sutton, Sutton Beef, Bundbar, Glenmorgan. RNA champion, the 27-month-old 5 Star Bailey (865kg) sold for $14,000 to Alastair and Jo McClymont, Burleigh, Richmond who ended with two to average $13,000 including the $12,000 5 Star 7-174 (Samaritan) (20-months).
Major support came from GP Cattle Company, Cotswold, Condamine taking 6 composites to average $6750 and topping at $10,000 for the 21-month, 662kg poll, 5 Star 7-362 (Charolais/Senepol). Top of the composites was the 21-month 5 Star 7-333 (ET) a 5 Star Merlin/Gunnadoo Truly Special product selling to the Stevenson family, Spring Creek, Springsure. Another major supporter was the interface arm, AuctionsPLUS taking six to average $4667. Olwin Pty Ltd, Winchester Downs, Moranbah claimed eight to average $5188 with Australian Country Choice, Redford, Roma accounting for six to average $2917.
The Hore family, Dalradie, Gladstonbury claimed the $10,500 36-month-old proven sire, Haz 5-21 (Rusty) while NT producer Barry Kelly, Gindare Station, Pine Creek operating via phone claimed four to average $7125 topping at $8500 for a 21-month-old 5 Star Gus son. Malcolm and Jenny McKenzie, Plainview, St Lawrence took home four to average $4250.
Taking home 12 females for an average $4917 and topping at $7500 for a six-year-old Wizard daughter with a heifer calf were the Godfrey family, Fairy Hill, NSW. The Spies family, Tolga took a trio of females for a $5000 average. While John Brandon, Boomerang Park, Yangan took home a $5500 two-year-old joined heifer.
